Revolução - Revolution
G.R.E.S. Samba Mundial Enredo 2009
Lyrics by Brad Hamilton [] Translation by Luis Dib and Cristina Lutz [] Music by Luis Dib and Brad Hamilton

In this year of great change.
(Yes, we can!/Si, se puede!)        [Everyone yells]
We honor those that made it possible.
They are the roots of this revival.
These are the seeds of this great change.

In Rio, at the beginning, were Portela and  Mangueira.
Here in the Bay Area we had Batucaje!
Vila Isabel and Viraduro soon followed.
As did Samba de Alegria here in the Mission.

It all got bigger with Serrano and Beija Flor!
And here, with the grand Escola Nova.
These greats laid the foundation for what is to come,
The revolution that we celebrate today!

[Slow Rock Break]
You say you want a revolution,
Well, you know,
We all want to change the world.
You tell me that it's evolution,
Well, you know,
We all want to change the world.

And now we have Mocidade, Imperatriz, and Tradição.
Sambão is now Samba Mundial and Jorge has his group Samba Rio.
The revolution has brought new hope with Obama,
And great Samba in San Francisco for years to come!
[Repeat from the beginning]

Oh Sambão!

 Neste ano de grandes esperanzas.
(Yes, we can!/Si, se puede!)        [Todos falam]
Honramos aqueles que as trouxeram.
São raízes do renascimento.
São sementes desta grande mudança.

No Rio, no início, eram Portela e Mangueira.
Aqui, na Bay Area, tinha o Batucajé!
Viradouro  e Vila Isabel seguiram.
Como o Samba de Alegria aqui na Mission.

Tudo cresceu com o Império e Beija-Flor!
E aqui, com a grande Escola Nova.
Foram a fundação de um futuro,
A revolução que hoje comemoramos!

[Mais lento]
You say you want a revolution,
Well, you know,
We all want to change the world.
You tell me that it's evolution,
Well, you know,
We all want to change the world.

E agora temos a Mocidade, Imperatriz, e Tradição.
