$10 per class (Or buy 10 weeks for $80)

This class is perpetual and may be joined at anytime.  Students just starting out are encouraged to
attend for at least 8 weeks in order to cover all the material (listed below), but may continue to
come as long and as often as necessary to meet their desired expectations.  Because the attendance
is not completely predictable, each classs' curriculum will be determined by the those in attendance.
Every effort will be made to cover all material listed below in any eight to twelve week period.
Intermediate and Advanced students wishing to "brush-up" on the basic, or those that would like
to have more in-depth coverage on any topic are encouraged to attend.

Each week's anticipated curriculum will be announced during the preceding week's class and
during the Wednesday night Int/Adv session.  For up-to-date information on any class date

Samba 1A
-Basic Samba and Samba Reggae rhythms
-Instrument technique (Tamborim, Agogo, Surdo, Caixa, Repenique, Ganza, Cuica, Pandeiro)
-Provides pre-requisite for joining the Sambão Bateria (see Wednesday night Int/Adv class on Schedule)

Folkloric Introduction
-History and "context" of forms
-Instrumentation and basic patterns

Conga Drumming
-Technique (Afro-Cuban Salsa and Brazilian styles)
-Practice exercises and basic "rides"

Percussion Basics
-Instrument care and maintenance
-Drum Tuning
-Musician etiquette for different situations (Class/Dance Class/Rehearsals/Performances)
-Clave (the instrument, the concept, and the rhythms)

Pagode
-Defining the concept and/or form
-Basic patterns and technique (Cavaquinho, Pandeiro, Tan Tan, Ganza, Reco Reco, Triangelo)
-Traditional Songs
