Portola Valley Library -
Samba demonstration Monday 9/22/03 4-5pm
I will be providing a demonstration called "Intro to Samba Experience" for children and families
at the Portola Valley Library on Monday, September 22, 2003 from 4-5pm.  We will do a basic
demonstration of Samba with the bateria, and then I will give an introduction to the music and to
each instrument.  The hour will conclude with the audience participating in playing some basic
Samba rhythms along with the bateria.

This presentation was arranged by Cass Fricke, who used to play the 24 inch Surdo in our bateria.
The more folks that can make it, the more powerful our demonstration will be, and the better our
chances of forming a working relationship with Portola Valley!  I hope that many of you can make it!

Time:       4-5pm
Address:  765 Portola Road
                 Portola Valley, CA 94028
Directions:
The easiest way to get here is to take 280 North and exit at Alpine Road(Portola Valley) exit.
Then turn left at Alpine.  Take Alpine to the first stop sign which is Portola Road and turn Right.
(This sounds straight forward enough but the  ride on Alpine Rd. is a long and winding one.
It seems like you are on it forever, but Portola Road is truly the first stop sign you will see and
you will make a Right at it).  Then continue down Portola Road for aprox. 2 miles or so and you
will pass Windy Hill preserve and then Spring Down Equestrian Center.  The library is located
at the Town Center on the left hand side of the road right after you see the Equestrian center.
IF you blink, you will miss it.  The library looks like an old School House you can park anywhere
you want.
