The event is part of Festa Brazil which goes on for a month or so.
This is a fund raiser for the Arts Center.
Brazilian Council and Mayor of P.A. to attend.

Show Description (per Maria) is as follows:

Call time 6pm, hide until 7pm for a surprise parade with batacuda,
parade around the grounds and bring people into the tent for a
dance performance, Sambao providing the music.

This is a two part gig from our perspective, the parade is part one.

Hang out until around 10pm when Maria will do another dance number
(with CD's but we might be prepaired to fill in of there is equipment problems)
and a samba class.

Somewhere in here is time for us to eat, food for entertainers is provided.

Part two is around 10:30 or 11 when Pagode starts.

Maria has a singer and cavaquinho player, Sambao providing backup and
background percussion. Sounds like it will not be necessary for everyone in
Sambao to stay for pegode so some can just take off after the parade.

More About the Event:
On June 26th we are celebrating Festa! Brasil, a wonderful party at the Palo Alto Art
Center. We are raising money to support our art education programs and launching the
summer-long exhibit of modern and indigenous art from Brazil in our galleries. In
conjunction with the exhibit we are holding a series of events, free to the public, that
celebrate Brazilian cooking, dancing, film and music.

We hope that you can join us for some of these activities and spread the word among your
friends. For more information please go to http://www.paacf.org. I can be reached through
Linda Craighead, director of the Palo Alto Art Center. Her telephone number is 650-329-2519.

I hope that this e-mail piqued your interest and that I have an opportunity to meet you
soon.   Sincerely,  Anne Gregor
